Exciting news!  With a view to starting our own weight lifting club, we’re running a 6-week introductory course for Olympic Lifting.  Coached by Luke Etheridge who has been ranked #2 in the UK overall in his weight category, and who is a Level 2 Weightlifting Coach, you will be in good hands as you learn the techniques needed and how to correctly perform the component lifts to help you along.

Luke was the English Champion in 2017 and British Silver Medalist with PB’s of 150kg Snatch and 180kg Clean and Jerk.  He was a Weightlifter for 7 years, competing in 2 weight categories.  He is a Level 3 PT and a Level 2 Weight Lifting Coach with years of competitive and coaching experience behind him.

What is Olympic Weightlifting?

Often referred to as just Weightlifting, Olympic lifting comprises of 2 lifts:

Clean and Jerk


This course is open to anyone who can commit to Saturday mornings 9.30am-12.30pm – for 6 weeks; and will be half price to Hangar members. The cost is:

  • £40 members
  • £80 non-members

We have a limited number of 8 spaces for this course.

What to expect

  • By the end of the course, you will be able to perform the 2 lifts with competence, with at least a 15kg or 20kg bar and possibly with additional weights added
  • Following the course, you will be able to continue your training at The Hangar as we introduce regular Weightlifting classes
  • Huge increase in explosive power and strength
  • A new hobby!
